Gift Options
No matter your situation, we have a number of planned giving opportunities for you to explore.
Bequests
A bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust and essentially costs you nothing during your lifetime. Plus, it's "revocable," so you can update or change it as circumstances change. If you already have a will or living trust, you can include a bequest to Reaching Souls with a simple codicil, a fancy term for addition or supplement.
If you would like, Reaching Souls can provide you with sample bequest and codicil language.
Bequests are one of the easiest and most popular gift plans and can fit any prospect. Often they are a simple set amount or percentage of an estate set aside to make a gift to Reaching Souls.
Please contact our office if you wish to speak with one of our planned giving representatives to learn more or request sample bequest language.
Appreciated Securities
If you own any publicly traded securities for more than one year, you have the option to transfer ownership to Reaching Souls. We take your securities and sell them, applying the proceeds to whatever ministry function you designate.
Donors can then claim an income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the securities, avoiding capital gains tax on the securities' appreciation.
This planned giving method is an excellent option for donors who hold highly appreciated securities for several years and do not plan to sell the stock.

Life Insurance
This option allows you to designate Reaching Souls International as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. When the time comes, we receive the proceeds, which are exempt from estate tax.
Thus, you can provide a large gift to the mission at relatively little cost.
This planned giving method is an excellent option for donors who hold a paid-up life insurance policy, and no one needs the proceeds.

Gifts of Real Estate
When you deed your property to Reaching Souls International, you receive an income tax charitable deduction for the value of the contribution. And, you can elect to make an outright donation of the property or use the value to fund a gift that pays you income. Either way, it serves as a significant and generous gift to the ministry.
This planned giving method is an excellent option for donors who face significant capital gains tax and do not want to pass their property on to an heir. It is also a great option for tough-to-maintain properties and no longer wanted vacation homes.

Personal Property
You can make a significant gift by transferring property to Reaching Souls, such as paintings, antiques, or collectibles. In return, you receive an immediate income tax deduction and pay no capital gains on the appreciation. The ministry will sell the property and apply the proceeds for the purpose you designate.
This planned giving method is an excellent option for donors who have appreciated property and no heirs with interest in the property.

Retirement Plans
This option allows you to name Reaching Souls International as the beneficiary of a portion, or all, of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or another retirement account.
When the time comes, the designated amount passes to Reaching Souls and is estate tax-free.
This planned giving method is an excellent option for donors who hold a retirement plan and do not need additional income. It is ideal for those who wish to give the most heavily taxed assets to a non-profit and leave their more favorably taxed assets to their heirs.

Charitable IRA Rollover
The IRA charitable rollover allows taxpayers aged 70 1/2 or older to make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 per year directly from their individual retirement accounts. However, the funds must be directly transferred by you to Reaching Souls International and not withdrawn first.
This planned giving method is an excellent option for donors who do not need additional income and want to avoid double taxation on the minimum required distribution (MRD).
