Kidnapping and Rescue in DRC

On September 10th of 2025, Reaching Souls received an urgent prayer request from Andrew, one of our National Missionaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The DRC is a country burdened by immense conflict currently. A violent escalation in eastern DR Congo, driven by a rebel group, has led to seizures of key cities, widespread displacement of millions, and a deepening humanitarian and rights crisis. Andrew’s family is one of many families who have suffered at the hands of this violent conflict.

In his cry for prayer, Andrew shared that his 16-year-old son, Samuel, had been kidnapped by the rebel group. He shared that Samuel would most likely be forced to become a rebel fighter.

As soon as we received this request, our staff began to pray. Four weeks after this tragedy struck Andrew’s family, we received an incredible update from our overseas leadership in the DRC. They wrote, “It is with immense joy that we announce that our faithful God has answered your prayers:  the son Samuel was released and found safe and sound at 10:30 p.m.”

Samuel has now returned safely to his family. Our staff, Andrew, and our DRC leadership have joined together in worship- thanking God for liberating Samuel and answering our cries for mercy and freedom. Praise the Lord for He is good!

Please join us in praising God and praying that He would bring peace to the DRC. Most of all, please pray that the Spirit will work and that souls will be saved in this country’s turbulent times.
