Update from the Field – December 2020

There are 7.8 billion people in the world, and the population is increasing at a rate of 400 million people per year. Most of this increase is coming from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Reaching Souls’ National Missionaries have seen between 8.5 million to 11 million salvations per year over each of the last three years. Even if we continue at that rate, which is incredible and worth celebrating, we will still be losing ground exponentially.

Currently, 41.6 percent of the global population has yet to be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s 3.23 billion people.*

We have been called to “pray earnestly for laborers (Mt. 9:37-38)” and to “go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole of creation (Mk. 16:15).”

At Reaching Souls International, we are more convinced than ever that the most efficient way to reach these billions is through Nationals Reaching Nationals. The strategy is right. But, we need “more” laborers in “more” fields.

Many of those who are unreached with the Gospel are on the African continent. For more than three decades, Reaching Souls donors have invested many resources for African National Missionaries, and we intend to continue to keep our foot to the pedal. But many are also in Latin America and in Southeast and South Asia. Places where the Gospel is growing and evidence of a great harvest are beginning to be seen.

We agree with Jesus; “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Our intentional strategy is to support, train, and equip many more laborers in new fields to reach as many as possible in the shortest amount of time and in the most efficient way. That’s who we are, that’s what we were called to, and that’s how we are built.

In 2019, we began the process of working in new fields. We have done extensive research, made evaluations and assessments, personally visited and explored each area, and took a COVID-19 break. We are now at the point of interviewing, selecting, and appointing leaders and new National Missionaries in each of these regions.

We are currently exploring Southern Mexico, meeting, interviewing, and with God’s guidance, prayerfully selecting men that we can come alongside in the fields of Oaxaca and Chiapas Mexico.

What about you? What field has God laid on your heart? Join us by praying, giving, or going as we break ground in new areas.
