A Drunkard Becomes Sober-Minded
It was on a Saturday morning, I just felt within me that I should go to visit a neighbor named Mr. M, who was living a life full of quarrels and violence with his wife and his children, caused by the influence of alcoholic beverages he was drinking almost every hour. I finished having my breakfast and set off for my neighbor’s house on foot since it was a walking distance from my place of residence.
I was very lucky to find him alone but sober-minded since his wife and children had gone out on other house errands. He welcomed me, and without wasting time, I explained to him the purpose of my visit.
I explained to him that the time to worship our Creator was now not later and made him to see the difference between a drunkard and a sober-minded person. So I explained to him about the only mediator between us and God who is Jesus Christ and went on to explain that this Mediator died for our sins that we should not perish at the end of times but should inherit eternal life only in Him. I spoke to him about the wages of sin and the free gift of Heaven in Jesus Christ (Rom.6:23). I explained that everyone is a sinner unless he/she repents of his/her sins and live their life under God’s guidance other than living one’s life without Him.
His eyes showed signs of defeat, and he looked downwards, and I realized that the spirit of God was at work. I told him to feel free to ask anything about Christ and he asked a few questions related to our topic showing that he was now eager to know more about Christ, so I answered him politely. At last, he opened and decided to repent of his sins and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Since he was not attending any church services, I advised him to attend services at my church together with his family.
The family is now attending services at my church, and the wife and four children also gave their lives to Christ, and as I speak, the wife is testifying that the Lord is good because they are now living a fulfilled life, since they are now born in Christ. I have organized that every Friday, the family joins other new converts to receive biblical teachings for them to grow spiritually. The following week after the family’s conversion, I baptized them as a sign of their repentance.
Glory Be To God.
