A Typhoon, A Radio, And the Gospel Shared

First, I offer praise to the Lord. In the past September, I faced the devastating and dangerous Typhoon Yagi, which took many lives, left families without mothers and children, and caused the loss of homes and possessions. After the storm, countless people wept bitterly as they searched for their missing loved ones. Many children became orphans, and families were torn apart.

During the storm, I was away, training brothers and sisters in Christ. When the storm hit, landslides blocked all roads, and I was stranded for three days and three nights from September 8th to 10th, 2024. However, thanks to the Lord’s mercy, I returned home safely.

On September 13th, after returning home, I received numerous calls for help from churches and believers who had suffered from the storm. Even though the roads were still not clear, I couldn’t just stand by. I had to push my motorbike through the blocked paths to reach brothers and sisters who had been affected by landslides, which swept away dozens of believers and their homes. Witnessing the devastation and suffering, my heart burned with the desire to help my fellow believers.

I bought rice and essential supplies and brought them to starving, isolated families. Many families had lost their homes, possessions, and even clothing, so I provided them with blankets and other necessities. On each relief trip, I witnessed the Lord’s miraculous work. After distributing rice, fish sauce, salt, cooking oil, and blankets to each village, we also distributed memory cards, radios, and gospel tracts to those who had not yet believed in the Lord.

Through these relief efforts, people saw the love of Christ manifest through our ministry, and many came to accept Jesus as the Lord of their lives. One of the most remarkable moments was when I gave a radio to a man after he heard the Gospel and prayed to receive Christ. He was overjoyed and began dancing in celebration. He called others to join him in listening to the Gospel through the radio. Soon, many non-believers gathered to hear the message of salvation, and through this radio, many people came to know about Jesus.

Through these 14 relief trips, 2,400 people heard the Gospel, and 230 of them accepted Christ in the isolated areas. Please continue to pray for us as we plan to establish new churches in these areas after the relief efforts.
