God Was Already at Work

God remains the same as yesterday and will be forever and ever. Traveling through our territory, holding in-house events (within the congregation I pastor), and having informal gatherings. There have always been people who choose to hear the message of salvation. He prepares the way long before we arrive. Our arrival is part of His plan for each person. It’s not that we are so important, but God includes us in His plan to proclaim the good news of salvation.

José is a young man, around 25 years old, immersed in a harsh world, where he serves a lot of young men from his barbershop. Some are focused on getting ahead and faithfully work toward their dreams, but others (the majority) don’t even know where they stand. Parties, women, drugs, and promiscuity are the propositions that José receives week after week from those who are his “friends.” He was impacted by the Word of God through our ministry, and since then he has shown a strong desire to change his reality and leave the world he is unwillingly getting himself into.

He offered a prayer of faith at an event we organized for several people, and we have also had counseling sessions with him to help him rise from his current situation. He has grown in his understanding of God’s Word and has consistently begun attending church and heeding God’s guidance for his life. José comes from a very complex family background and currently lives alone with his mother, who occasionally reaches out to you for prayer and other support.

We are certain that, like José, there are hundreds of young people tired of the life they have chosen. The parties, vices, and pleasures of this world are fleeting and will eventually end. Each individual is aware of their need for God, but they need powerful experiences to reach the depths of their being and truly recognize Him. Whenever someone is willing to let God into their life, wonderful and incredible things happen. We are praying that José may fill his life with much faith, passion, love and commitment to God, and also become a light for all his family, neighbors and “friends” who surround him.
