New Baptistry for New Believers

During my work of evangelism, my Timothies and I had the opportunity to go and baptize the new believers from a preaching point we had in a nearby village on the 25th of May. This village was twelve kilometers away from our places of residence, so we had to use our Reaching Souls ministry bicycle to go there.

We had a very big challenge because there was no nearby baptistry for baptizing people. Because we had planned for this ceremony, in advance, the new believers had dug a four-corner sizeable trench deep enough to hold enough water. We had also bought a large plastic sheet to put in the hole to accommodate the water. An ox-drawn scotch cart was supplied by one of the new believers, and water was fetched from a well which was five hundred meters from the place where the baptism ceremony was to take place. Water was then filled in this trench in preparation for the ceremony. This exercise was done a day before our arrival so when we arrived at this preaching point, everything was in place and many people had already gathered to undergo the baptism, as this baptistry was still new for them.

The opening prayer was done, and worship songs were sung and then I explained to the new believers that one should be baptized as a sign of their repentance and that they should leave all evil ways and bad actions towards one another, to allow the Spirit of God to lead their lives. Then I started baptizing the believers.

The Lord helped us to baptize eighteen women, six youth girls, fifteen men, and five youth boys, giving the total of forty-three. I am planning to plant a church at this preaching point, my Timothies and I are still going to give these new converts the spiritual food they deserve for them to grow spiritually. I also encouraged these new believers to share the Good News about our Lord Jesus Christ with all those who do not know Him so that they can be saved.
