Not a Box of Biscuits
Jesus stated, “No one comes to me unless the Father who sent me draws him” (John 6:44). Our efforts as Gospel propagators would prove futile if God were not involved. God’s involvement in this evangelism program can be simple, but always effective.
My Timothy and I went out visiting our fellow believers within our locality on June 7th, 2023. We met Mrs. Neria. The meeting with this lady was very unique in that, usually, we the evangelists take the first step to talk to would be converts, but in our case on this day it was the other way around.
On this day, the only evangelism aid tool we had was the EvangeCube. Neria was coming from the opposite direction to where we were going, carrying her boy in her hands. As we passed by each other, Neria’s child shouted a begging cry “Mami, I want biscuits” while pointing at the EvangeCube I was carrying in my hand. The EvangeCube box looked like a biscuit box to the child because of its decorative appearance.
We all suddenly stopped. Moving closer to the child and his mother, I said “This is not a box of biscuits my friend! It is an EvangeCube.” The mother became curious, inquisitive, interested, and seemingly eager to know what was contained in the EvangeCube box.
I opened the EvangeCube box and took out the EvangeCube itself. “This apparatus, or tool, unfolds the answer to our life’s greatest puzzle,” I assured Neria. I started sharing with her the way of salvation by the pictures demonstrated on the 6 surfaces of the EvangeCube evangelism aid tool.
Surface 1: Shows you and me separated from God in sinful nature inherited from our first parents, Adam and Eve, if we don’t trust in Jesus Christ.
Surface 2: Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for our sins if we confess them to Him.
Surface 3: After Jesus Christ died on the cross He was buried in the tomb for three days and three nights.
Surface 4: Jesus Christ rose from the dead and whosoever believes in Him will live again even if they die.
Surface 5: After rising from the dead, Jesus Christ went back to His Father in heaven providing the only way back to God for the lost man (John 14:6)
Surface 6: The picture challenges us to make a choice; Heaven or Hell?
I am happy to report that Neria trusted in Jesus Christ to receive eternal life (John 3:36).
